We are looking for an DevOps System Engineer (m/f/d) who will be the vital player ensuring the successful delivery of value in the field of Pricing + Quoting Sea Logistics for our digital product SeaQuote, other related applications and future new applications.

Your Role

In your role as a DevOps System Engineer (m/f/d), you will be involved with multiple international cross-functional teams in the end-to-end delivery process of our applications. Your role as a DevOps System Engineer is to foster collaboration between development teams and infrastructure. You will ensure that developed software solutions can be operated and run by the development teams themselves. This position is crucial to ensure a high operational service level and availability of our digital products by bridging the gap between development teams and infrastructure departments.

Your Responsibilities

We are building up a new IT team in Wroclaw, which will be the counterpart for our already existing and strong team in Hamburg. Together we want to grow even further as one product team, hand in hand with the business unit and soon with you

Contribute to the continuous improvement of our development setup and processes following our agile principles

Channel requirements from the development teams to the infrastructure departments

Being the contact person for requirements from infrastructure departments towards the development teams

Initiate necessary infrastructure software updates

Support and coach development teams in running / operating their own software (You build it – You run it)

Automate build and deployment pipelines

Support teams with setup of monitoring / alerting solutions and processes

Support development teams with infrastructure know how

Operate, monitor and maintain shared (middleware) components

Collaborates closely with the operational service owners

 

Your Skills and Experiences

Academic degree of computer sciences or equivalent education / knowledge

Have the strong will to evolve personally as well as a team in a dynamic environment

Foster a no-blame culture, dare to fail and share opinions

Have hands-on experience with configuration management tools

Have deep knowledge of networking concepts and technologies

Have a good understanding of monitoring, logging and alerting solutions

Have practiced system administration in heterogeneous environments

Can translate infrastructure jargon to development teams (and vice versa)

Considers development and operational concerns when driving decisions

Ability to explain technical issues, good communication skills, have a team player attitude and reliability

Expertise in DevOps tools such as Kubernetes, Docker, OpenShift and building CI/CD systems using Jenkins or Gitlab.

Fluency in written and spoken English. Polish is highly appreciated. German skills are nice to have
